BMW’s next generation SUV is expected in June next year with front wheel drive and all wheel drive forms and backed by robust engine line-up.

It is only fourteen months from now when the new X1 will make an appearance at the showrooms along with even more sporting X2 model. The all new SUV is the part of an extended range of future models and exclusively hosted by UKL1 platform, previously shared by MINI and 2-Series Active Tourer models. This platform will bring a great change in the new X1’s mechanical layout with some great profitability in the rivals to allow scope for X2, which is planned to go on sale in 2016 in UK.
If we talk about BMW X1 engine line-up then you will have both diesel and petrol variants to buy from. All engine units will be offered in three-cylinder turbocharged layout and some of four-cylinders without turbocharging. Petrol engines will range from 1.5 Litre, 3-cylinders with 136bhp for front wheel drive X1 sDrive18i, and 2.0 Litre 4-cylinder with 231bhp for xDrive25i version of X1.

The diesel engines are set to cover from a 114bhp 1.5-litre 3-cylinder for front-wheel-drive X1 sDrive16d to a maximum of 2.0-litre 4-cylinder for xDrive20d with 168bhp. A 148bhp 2.0 diesel in the sDrive18d is likely to be the best-seller due to its size and fuel stats.
“We’ve shortened up the bonnet, moved the windscreen forward and given the roofline additional slope towards the rear,” an official said. “The new model looks less like a small estate than today’s models. It is far more dynamic and sleeker in profile.”
BMW’s M division demonstrated that the company is developing a high-output variant of its parent company’s new B48 turbocharged 2.0-litre petrol engine. This new engine will crank out a maximum of 231bhp. However, detailed modifications to the induction system of this engine, together with other power-enhancing tweaks, this engine will produce well over 300bhp”. Nothing is official from the given details but it is predicted that 0-62 mph will go under 5.0 seconds and the top speed is limited to 155 miles per hour.
BMW fans have been wishing for a new BMW 2015 M4 Gran Coupe and one of my friends was about to buy a new BMW and said that “i am going to hold off until i can get a Gran Coupe version”. Coupe will never become a reality. Darn! Darn it all!
BMW M4 Gran Coupe
BMW planned to introduce a 4-Series Gran Coupe with an extra pair of doors and hatchback, but in the M version there was a 425 horse power twin turbo straight six BMW engine.
BMW explains that they put the plan into bin because of costs of making the Gran Coupe for M4, while the M sales chief Jorg Bartels said that at the launch of new M4 in the Australian markets; BMW will definitely consider an M4 Gran Coupe. However they decided against it because the entire production line up is laying off workers in different areas of Germany. The 3-Series and 4-Series Coupeand Gran Coupe are all built in different factories and adding the M production to a new production facility does not make any sense in financial means, said Bartels.

BMW has revealed an all new X6 for 2015 along with the M Sport last week. They have finally taken the wraps of the whole bunch of equipment details along with engine specifications for 2015 X6. The UK version of BMW X6 includes the xDrive50i, which is exclusively powered by the latest generation of BMW V8 engines. BMW X6 2015 M Sport has a distinctive body style with a front and rear bumpers, redesigned side skirts, a new grille on the front end and chrome tail pipes at rear. Interior has state of the art Alcantara leather upholstery, a sports steering wheel and exclusively elegant door sill plates. The prices haven’t been announced for the new 2015 X6.

BMW has confirmed that they have made a joint venture with SGL of America for a three times higher production of carbon fibre
BMW-SGL Group Moses Lake USA
The demand of using carbon fibre in the automobile manufacturing is increasing day by day and to fulfil its production needs BMW has confirmed a joint venture with SGL to increase their carbon fibre production. On other hand SGL has proclaimed that it’ll be tripling the capacity at its Moses Lake production facility to handle the enlarged carbon fibre demand.
This joint venture is not a new thing between BMW and SGL as they are already doing production at Moses Lake for BMW i-Series. Only the i3 production line up uses almost 3000 tonnes of carbon fibre every year however a third and fourth production line is currently being built to double the production capacity from 3000 to 6000 tonnes every year. Some further site expansion has been announced by the venture partners with an investment of $200million to timely complete the targets for 2015. After the completion of this plant, it will capture the position of being world’s largest carbon fibre production facility.

All currently produced carbon fibre is used for the production of BMW i3 and is not enough to start parallel production for other carbon fibre based models. Both partners said that CFRP (carbon fibre reinforced plastics) applications are likely to grow in the concept cars and eco-friendly mobility in future.
The carbon fibre composts production is based on several processes and requires a precursor based on polyacryl-nitrile fibre which is an exclusive co-production of SGL and Mitsubishi Rayon. This raw material will be used for final carbon fibre production at Moses Lake facility. All this planning shows that your next BMW will be based on some extra carbon fibre and will be lightweight.
When BMW launched it 2-Series, it featured sleeker head lamps and the front grille was also more aggressive than of 1-Series.

The BMW 228i Coupe was introduced earlier with a less powerful twin scroll turbocharged engine which was a little disappointing but now BMW is very determined to make up for this short come and close this performance gap by offering Track Handling Package for the 2015 models.
The complete 2-Series will be having Variable Sport Steering, suspension will be Adaptive M, there will be M Sport Braking system working behind light weight 18-inch wheels wearing Pilot Super Sport tyres by Michelin. The four cylinder engines will remain the same 240 horsepower units but in Coupe there will be plenty more fun with all the little tweaks and gismos it will incorporate.

According to the BMW, all new Track Handling Package will be introduced at the New York Auto Show and the month of July is announced as when this car will roll onto the showrooms. This model will be offered in a six speed manual and an eight speed automatic gearbox. The pricing has not be announced yet but it still is getting a good response.
