BMW has one of the most powerful brand series M and now its M5 has just turned 30. There is a secret celebration going on in there and they are looking back at all the previous models of its glorious saloons. A video has been leaked of the celebration where latest M5 is shown making smoky donuts.

It was the year 1985 when first M5 made its debut and was crowned as the most expensive model ever made by the company at that time. There is a potent 3.5 litre six cylinder engine, churning out 282 hp in the BMW M5. It is still one step ahead of rest of the world as it is the fastest production four door sports car in the world at this time.

BMW is still not revealing this surprise as they are planning to have all five generations of M5 indexed and there is a mere possibility that sometime later this year, we might see a special anniversary edition model. This is just a speculation at this time; it might come true or might not. Let us all wait and see how things turn out.

MINI is Downsizing!

BMW refocuses the brand and the Mk4 Mini line-up is likely to be launched with just five models at the end of the decade

There will be only four or five models in the fourth generation of MINI and it is said by Peter Schwarzenbauer, he is the member of BMW board for MINI and Rolls-Royce. Schwarzenbauer further recommended that the Mini line-up could be abridged from the six or seven models intended for the third-generation range, due at the end of the decade. He also said that he would like to make out the styling of prospect Mini models to transform to have much superior segregation. His astonish involvement came just days prior to the global unveiling of the new Mk3 Mini. He thought BMW had to be “sensitive about the number of variants and size. It is better to go in a different direction to concentrate on doing less but better”.

Schwarzenbauer’s delineated arrangement involves further developing the design and manufacture quality of the fourth generation Mini line-up more than that of the Mk3, achieved by focussing Mini’s research and development spending on a lesser number of models. Schwarzenbauer would also like to see a small Mini design studio in London as at present Mini plan team is in Munich. In the Mk4, ‘hero cars’ come into view to be a three-door hatch, a convertible and a proper SUV. Schwarzenbauer said, “Each model must be a hero in its own market and have the trademark personality, style and go-kart handling.”

This new approach could also effect in Mini stirring upmarket and away from its present pricing strategy. A hatchback to contend in the Volkswagen Golf class, priced from about £17,000, is probable. High priced Minis also make more wisdom reasonably because these are UK made, which has comparatively high manufacturing costs.

BMW is geared up to built biggest ever SUV, Called X7

BMW is ready to the launch the new SUV called the X7, it will be the biggest ever SUV made by BMW. The production is likely to start in 2016 at its Spartanburg plant in North America. Supporting the X7 is a comprehensive version of the design that is inspired by the X5 and X6 models that are also built in the Spartanburg plant.

The all new X7 will be a rival to Mercedes Benz GL and the idea behind its instigation is also similar to the relationship between Mercedes Benz GL and ML. The all new X7 has strong relationship with X5 on which it is based. It will be a seven seater with a proper third row of seats and has a longer wheel base in order to accomplish its objectives. It has improved features than the X5 which has rear wheel drive and four cylinder engines, but in the case of X7; it is set to be offered with all wheel drive and relatively larger engines. Engine line up will be based on six cylinder and eight cylinder engines to deliver the premium power backup and to place the X7 at top of any existing SUVs.

At the completion of 20 years of production at Spartanburg plant, the BMW boss Norbert Reithofer has announced the X7. In order to meet the expectations from X7, BMW is investing £600 million in the Spartanburg production facility untill 2016. This investment will increase the production capacity from 300,000 units to 450,000 units. BMW has confirmed the all new X7 will be open for sales in all its “world markets”, including Europe, but demand is likely to be burliest in North America and China.

BMW-Toyota Alliance; First Fruit is Ready to be Picked

BMW is ready to introduce a two seater Hybrid sports Coupe

The new but first fruit from the alliance between Toyota and BMW will be the all new two-seater which will bung high-tech Hybrid expertise from Toyota’s Le Mans program. The super capacitor technology is used in the new car in order to boost performance and most importantly, it is used for the first time in any series of production.
The new Hybrid sports car will sire a drastically dissimilar replacement for BMW Z4 and the Supra which Toyota hinted at Detroit Motor Show with FT-1 concept, all this confirmed by the chairman of BMW and Akio Toyoda, boss of Toyota motors Japan. It was claimed in a press conference when they made the alliance to built high performance Hybrid cars. It will use a front engine layout and four wheel drive configurations unlike the FT-1 concept; it will use a direct injection petrol engine and an electric motor.

BMW and Toyota have selected super capacitors for this project because these capacitors can absorb and discharge kinetic energy more swiftly cooperatively to latest generation of lithium-ion battery pack. They are also classically small in size and light weight than all active energy storage sources currently used in the Hybrid vehicles.

The main purpose is to put a super capacitor hybrid system into production first unveiled on the Toyota Yaris Hybrid R last year. 1.6-litre petrol engine with a 300bhp to power the front wheels additionally paired with 600bhp electric motor. All this system is combined to develop 414bhp.

The structure being engineered for the modern sports car is illustrated as a exodus from that used by the Yaris Hybrid R, even though the fundamentals will be carried over. For this new sports car, shared platform structures and up to date new hybrid drivelines are also planned. We might expect this car in near future

Finally! BMW i8 is coming in June this year

BMW i8 has just completed its development phase and all necessary preparations for production,t is ready to approach the market with its first delivery in June 2014. BMW claims that they have further improved the performance and data thus the demand for i8 is exceedingly increased but the production volume will remain same. BMW engineers are making more efforts to improve performance data and fuel consumption stats for i8 and it will be the first car on the globe to offer innovative lighting technology as it is powered by laser headlights.

The launch of i8 is also important due to the introduction of laser light technology and new powertrain with eDrive and plug-in Hybrid configuration. BMW i8 is not a slow car either, it propels from 0 to 62 mph in just 4.4 seconds and average fuel consumption is 2.1 Litre for every 100km. Emissions of CO2 are also controlled at 49 g/km. However the electricity consumption of i8 is 11.9 kWh per 100km.

BMW i8 engineers have cited a picky prominence on fuel economy in everyday life.

As a result, the i8 shows an exceptional efficiency not only in standard testing trial but also in day by day traffic tests. It can pull off fuel economy just below 60 miles per gallon in its built-up activities.

Even in elongated distances travel at high speeds, drivers can go on fuel consumption below 30mpg. Overall fuel utilization of the plug-in hybrid model is about 50 percent lower than traditional powered sports cars.

In the all-electric type, with zero emissions, the BMW i8 has a highest speed of 70mph and a range of 20 miles. In Sport mode, the i8 presents increase in speed in rounds 50 to 75 miles in 2.6 seconds. Maximum speed is electronically limited at 155mph.

BMW 7 Series

BMW 7-Series has been recalled in China

BMW is facing performance problems in the Chinese markets as some issues have been reported and in order to maintain their quality BMW has decided to recall more than ten thousand vehicles. You should know that this is not a big recall, because in 2003, a record 5.3 million vehicles were recalled from Chinese market which included both foreign and local makes.

BMW has announced a recall for 10,234 units of 7-Series saloon cars. The BMW 7-Series is an advanced vehicle which has keyless entry and start system. This recall notice was issued on Wednesday but it will start from March 24, and will be completed in several phases. If you own one of the BMW 7-Series then keep in mind it that it has a faulty comfort access system.

General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine, with which BMW filed the recall notice said, “The 7-Series is facing issues in comfort access system that may trigger the safety hazards.” First phase of recall will start from March 24, and 8676 vehicles will be recalled in this phase. These vehicles will include those produced between march10, 2004 to July 31, 2008. These batches can face difficulties in starting the comfort control and access system.

The production batches between March 1, 2004 and July 8, 2008 are subjected to door issues. These are almost 1558 cars, experiencing faulty locks that may seem to be locked but actually not. These doors can open unexpectedly in uneven conditions and can cause serious accidents.

BMW china Inspection and quarantine division stated on their website, “BMW will recall 8,676 7-series saloons produced between March 1, 2004 and July 31, 2008 due to a software glitch that could potentially cause a car to slip downhill when parked on a slope.” the agency said,”BMW will recall further 1,558 cars of 7-series cars made between March 1, 2004 and July 8, 2008 due to a software problem that could cause doors to release un expectedly when on bumpy roads.”

BMW X5 plug-in hybrid coming soon

BMW was on the Hybrid technology since couple of years and they have made several researches prior to launch any plug-in Hybrid SUV to confirm the reaction of customers. X5 was under consideration since years as an option for a plug-in Hybrid and the prototype for this massive modification was expected to preview the production model which could be called X5 eDrive.

BMW-X5-eDrive-concept

BMW-X5-eDrive-concept

Recently, it was seen under attesting with different name as BMW X5 eDrive Plug-in Hybrid and it was more likely expected that X5 is ready to be launched any time in 2014 or 2015 but BMW was hushed on this issue. It is likely to be introduced under the name of X5 xdrive40e while BMW has revealed official details of this Plug-in Hybrid X5.
This Plug-in Hybrid version is likely to be powered by a twin turbo engine and a powerful electric motor.

This four cylinder twin turbo engine is capable of generating a massive power punch of 171 horsepower and this power is further assisted by an electric motor of 95 horsepower which is capable of leading the vehicle up to 70mph on electric power alone. On this motorway speed if you want to go fully electric then these Hybrid batteries on the X5 eDrive can last up to 19 miles or 30km. The electric version of X5 is reasonably swift with 0-62 miles per hour sprint in seven seconds only. The all new X5 can be charged from any domestic power socket. Underneath the load area it has a high voltage battery pack as a crash safe option.

BMW-X5-Plug-in-Hybrid

On the part of twin turbo engine, it is an efficient engine though with an average fuel economy of 74.3 miles per gallon on an average European cycle. Carbon emissions of almost all electric Hybrid vehicles are considerably low but in the case of X5 it has 90g/km of CO2 emissions.

New BMW 2-series Active Tourer launched

BMW has introduced its first ever front wheel drive vehicle with radical styling and a three pot engine in just £23k.

 Versatile five seat MPV
 Three cylinder turbocharged engine
 Fuel economy of 70mpg

This is a new BMW 2-series Active Tourer MPV with an adaptable five-seat interior which made its much awaited debut at this year’s Geneva Motor Show. The new BMW is likely to go on sale in September and the prices are confirmed to be below £23k.

BMW-2-Series-Active-Tourer

BMW-2-Series-Active-Tourer

The 2-series Active Tourer espouses a transversely mounted engine and standard front-wheel drive. It is very first time ever that BMW is using this layout for a fully fledged BMW series-production model, but it is set to strengthen an imposing assembly of new BMW’s. It will also be the first time when BMW is using the three cylinder engine for any BMW after MINI. This model is to be offered with three-cylinder power, a compact new 1.5-litre petrol engine with turbocharger, which is same as the one featured in the new MINI hatchback.

Primarily, the 2-series Active Tourer will work on a three-pot direct-injection petrol and 4-cylinder common-rail diesel engines exclusively shared with the new MINI. More engines are planned to be introduced from early 2015, these include four-cylinder petrol and three-cylinder diesels. With these front wheel drive models, a six speed transmission will be used as standard but an eight speed transmission is kept as optional while some trims are expected to be all wheel drive.

Initial version of Active Tourer is the 218i Active Tourer powered by a three-cylinder turbocharged 1.5-litre petrol engine which is capable of producing 134bhp and 162lb ft of torque. It will be joined at launch by the 218d, which has a 2.0-litre four-pot turbodiesel with 148bhp of power and 243lb-ft of pulling power and an average fuel economy of 69.9mpg. By next year, you will also be able to decide between further three front-wheel-drive models as well as four-wheel-drive 225i Xdrive and 220d Xdrive models.

The BMW 220d will be the Top Seller

The basic BMW 220d is still one of the finest handling coupes you can still for under £30,000. More than that, though, it feels like a really grown-up, comfortable car with a high-quality cabin and premium design. The only real let-down of this package is the engine, which is too brusque under acceleration. There’s always the second option; the smoother 220i petrol.

The sporty M235i is the star of the range but this BMW 220d model is set to make up the majority of BMW 2 Series sales. The 0-62mph takes just 7.2 seconds and fuel economy stands at 58.9mpg. Go for the automatic and those figures improve to 7.1 seconds and 64.2mpg. Its looks make it differ from the 1 Series.

2014-BMW-220d

2014-BMW-220d

You’ll have to make do with only four seats but you do get an extra 30 litres of space in the boot over the 1 Series. The 220d is fun when it comes to handling. The slightly softer set-up means you can feel the body moving around a bit more. This 220d model is one of three diesel choices, though all are powered by the same 2.0-litre diesel, just in various versions. The bad news is that this engine sounds pretty gruff. Some excellent four-cylinder diesels have been released recently and this BMW unit is beginning to look outclassed in terms of refinement. It tackles motorways with the comfort and refinement you expect of a far more expensive car. That’s not to say that the 2 Series is a cheap car in the first place, with this 220d SE model costing £25,865.

Have you ever felt the power of diesel? If Not then Test a BMW 535d with xDrive technology

BMW 535d xDrive absolutely loves to travel but current BMW 5 Series isn’t a new car, regardless of being launched with several updates for the 2014 model year. But the noticeable thing is the 3.0-liter turbodiesel inline six-cylinder engine found under the hood. It is acquired from the well-built version of larger X5 xDrive35d and is also expected in the future 740Ld xDrive.

2014 BMW 535d xDrive

2014 BMW 535d xDrive

Obviously, the soul of the 535d is more significant, that 3.0-litre engine generates 255 horsepower and 413 lb-ft of torque in this version, and it comes to full strength at just 1,500 rpm. In contrast with the 535d’s main contender, the Audi A6 TDI, also powered by a 3.0-litre turbodiesel engine generates a punch of 240 hp and 428 lb-ft. It’s all about those extra units of torque. For what it’s appealing, Audi estimates the A6 TDI hits 60 miles per hour in 5.5 seconds with the Quattro all-wheel drive, while the BMW 535d xDrive does it in 5.7 seconds, but actually, that’s splitting hairs.

When you drive this monster and push the throttle then acceleration is very fast. BMW has eight speed transmission and the shifts are very soft and silky as butter. The ZF eight-speed automatic transmission is a great combination for this 3.0-litre setup while running on the motorway at a stunning 75 miles per hour in eighth gear, and you won’t believe that the engine was only turning over at about 1,600 rpm. This is the point where you can seriously feel the power of a diesel engine.
