BMW i8 has just completed its development phase and all necessary preparations for production,t is ready to approach the market with its first delivery in June 2014. BMW claims that they have further improved the performance and data thus the demand for i8 is exceedingly increased but the production volume will remain same. BMW engineers are making more efforts to improve performance data and fuel consumption stats for i8 and it will be the first car on the globe to offer innovative lighting technology as it is powered by laser headlights.   The launch of i8 is also important due to the introduction of laser light technology and new powertrain with eDrive and plug-in Hybrid configuration. BMW i8 is not a slow car either, it propels from 0 to 62 mph in just 4.4 seconds and average fuel consumption is 2.1 Litre for every 100km. Emissions of CO2 are also controlled at 49 g/km. However the electricity consumption of i8 is 11.9 kWh per 100km.         BMW i8 engineers have cited a picky prominence on fuel economy in everyday life.

As a result, the i8 shows an exceptional efficiency not only in standard testing trial but also in day by day traffic tests. It can pull off fuel economy just below 60 miles per gallon in its built-up activities.

Even in elongated distances travel at high speeds, drivers can go on fuel consumption below 30mpg. Overall fuel utilization of the plug-in hybrid model is about 50 percent lower than traditional powered sports cars.   In the all-electric type, with zero emissions, the BMW i8 has a highest speed of 70mph and a range of 20 miles. In Sport mode, the i8 presents increase in speed in rounds 50 to 75 miles in 2.6 seconds. Maximum speed is electronically limited at 155mph.
