The M5 saloon and the M6 coupe are representing the M brand this year at the LA Auto Show, and both attracted a good crowd. The super sporty premium M6 coupe made its debut this summer while the F10 BMW M5 als went on sale this year. Under the bonnet both of the BMW M5 engine is the same 4.4 litre V8 unit with M TwinPower Turbo Technology, consisting of Twin Scroll Twin Turbo technology, cross-bank exhaust manifold, High Precision Direct Petrol Injection and VALVETRONIC fully variable valve control. Between 6000 and 7000 of rpm, the M5 produces 502 lb ft of torque. The M5 saloon is longer and wider than the sporty M6 giving a cozy and extra spacious cabin. It has also put on a little bit of weight and is heavier than the M6 Coupe and its predecessor. Overall all the BMW cars are famous for their performance but the M cars also have a reputation of being thirsty on the fuel. But the new M series has been improved a lot is this regard. The outgoing BMW M5 used to do 17 mpg with a 10-cylinder engine. The new model returns 20 mpg with twin turbo V8 automatic gearbox and is increased to 22 mpg when equipped with a manual gearbox. The carbon emissions are also very lower as compared to the older models.
